Spring is officially here and you may be wondering how to dress for the warmer weather and update your Spring Workwear wardrobe. As a Personal Stylist in London, I have a lot of clients that have been through changes in their body, are progressing in their careers and are navigating the new normal of more time in the office when they have been used to sitting working from home in their loungewear. People want to get more dressed up and ensure that their personal style reflects their progression and developments. So I’ve put together my top Spring picks for the office. We’re talking smart casual pieces that will take you from meetings to after work drinks.
Jackets & Blazers
The trench is not going anywhere and will be a key piece for your Spring workwear wardrobe, especially with the very likely April, and maybe May, showers. The classic trench can be worn for smarter days with loafers or heels but also work for more casual days with trainers. The beauty in a trench lies in its ability to be shower resistant yet warm enough for the in between weather of Spring and Autumn. Pick a colour that works for you whether the traditional beige or a pop of colour.
A classic blazer will be your best friend. It can double as your outerwear as the weather gets warmer. I’m normally against oversized but I like a blazer with a bit of an oversized look that pairs with a more fitted outfit underneath. Think lighter fabric or cotton linen blends as it gets warmer.
Trousers
Think lighter coloured trousers for the warmer months in cotton and linen blend mixes. A wide cut with a high waist like this option from Uniqlo will work well for most body shapes or go for something tapered with loafers to show off the ankle.
Jeans
Uh oh, are we seeing the return of the skinny jean? Aside from style, the comfort of a wider or straight leg just can’t be beaten.
For your basic pair of denim for your Spring workwear opt for the Levis Ribcage. Straight through the leg and available in a range of washes, the off white are on my list for this Spring.
Light Knitwear
So I don’t think its time to say goodbye to your knitwear just yet. But bringing in lighter options, button through cardigans and vests for your Spring workwear can be a great way of staying warm, yet allowing layers to be removed for the warmer weather. They can easily be dressed up with a more tailored structured maxi skirt or a pair of trousers.
Blouses & Shirts
Stripes but make them spring. A stripe shirt can be worn in so many ways, but for you Spring workwear wardrobe switch the classic blue stripe to another option. Green stripes are on my list for Spring and I’ve been dreaming of this With Nothing Underneath option for a while. Super versatile to wear as is, or layered with a tank top underneath. I would take this from a smarter office look to a day out with friends.
Basic Tees
Cos has to be one of my all time faves for basic t-shirts. The more boxy cut gives nice structure through the shoulders and I love the thicker fabric and cropped length. They also wash so well. I have them in a range of colours and stripes as my go to elevated basics. This poppy red is perfect for a bit of brightness as we move into the warmer months for you Spring workwear.
Maxi Skirts
Maxi skirts are here to stay for a little while longer. You can go for the classic denim tube style or for a more practical and flattering option or try an A line style which works for more body shapes.
Dresses
Time to get the tee dresses out? Add prints and patterns for some personality into your work wardrobe. This midi style from Kitri is super versatile. Swap the belt for something more structured in leather, add a blazer and some court shoes and it’s perfect for an office look. Equally wear it for a summer day with flat sandals.
Footwear

But for that office look that works for the commute too, the loafer has to be your best addition. The classic tassel style on this pair has a low vamp, which is great if you are more on the petite side. Add some red or metallic socks for an on trend look.
Accessories
Lets go softer in colour with accessories like your bag. Think tans, creams, browns and beiges. The popular Arket one sold out but this variation from Jigsaw is stunning.
