Style & Colour Stories: With Jayna & Family

Style Stories capture the experiences of previous clients where they share with me their own journey with their colour and their personal style and the impact that working with me at Neelam Personal Stylist has had on them. This may include a one to one styling client, a group event or maybe a creative consultancy project. Real life experiences allow you to really understand the impact of working with a personal stylist and how it could work for you too.

This month I caught up with Jayna, founder of Haircare Brand, REIKA. Jayna was looking for a ‘fun, interactive and unique activity’ to do with her girlie cousins. After attending one of my public workshops, Jayna enquired with me about doing something with style and colour for her cousins. I was really excited to suggest a Colour & Style Party!

Colour Fans

We held it on a beautiful sunny day in London and Jayna and her family had hired out the perfect event space. I always recommend bringing along some of your favourite drinks and snacks for all the good vibes and I’ll make sure to bring along some music!

We began with learning the theory behind colour, how colour can have a psychological impact on us and how we can use colour to impact how people perceive us. We discussed everything from skin tone, to hair colour and eye colour! Because these elements are so important when considering the colours to wear.

Colour Draping

The most fun part is when we got interactive! ‘It was really fun laying the colour samples on each other and seeing the colours come to life! We could instantly see how different tints, tones and shades worked differently on different people’. The colour draping process involves trying colours in different tints, tones and shades to see how they reflect back on to the face. Do the colours bring a glow and vibrancy, or do they wash the face out or cause dark shadows and lines?

Colour is fascinating and when you wear the colours that complement your characteristics it can not only change how you feel but also how you look as well. I often remind clients that when you wear your best colours, you don’t even need to worry about make up!

Jayna went on to share, ‘I am so much more open to exploring more colour options now and have a better idea of what tone to go for. I have always been drawn to Greens and it is my favourite colour, but I found out in the session that Khaki Green works well for me which I love’. Implementing colour slowly and mindfully into your wardrobe can easily transform and uplift your style.

Style Personalities

After the colour session we had some time to learn more about Style Personalities and how the guests could discover theirs! And just for fun, Jayna shared that if her wardrobe was a song  it would ‘probably be a mix between power ballads and classical!’ I love that and can totally picture her style!

Colour & Style parties are the perfect way to begin exploring your style with friends in a really fun and interactive way. So if you are interested in booking one, just book in for a free call and lets get planning!

‘It was such a memorable activity and we all had such a great time. There’s so much more to colour than you think and this session really helped me understand that.’

A huge thank you to Jayna for sharing her experience with me. Please make sure to give Jayna and REIKA a follow over on IG, the best haircare brand I know!

Stay tuned for more Style Stories!

Love,
